In this post, we will journey to the following destinations:
Anguilla

Best Islands for December through February
Anguilla
Anguilla is a serene Caribbean gem known for its powdery white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and laid-back luxury.

Where to stay:
Shoal Bay Villas
3-Star Hotel
Shoal Bay Villas is located on the award-winning Shoal Bay East beach in Anguilla. Room types include studio, one and two bedrooms, with beach-front, pool-side, and garden suites.
Each of the 27 apartments includes a fully equipped kitchen. Shoal Bay Villas is centrally located within walking distance of all the restaurants on Shoal Bay, including Tropical Sunset, Hank’s, Madeariman, Uncle Ernie’s, Elodias and Gwen’s Reggae Grill. The friendly staff can help arrange restaurant reservations, babysitting services, car rental, and excursions. With an onsite fitness centre and mini-spa, Shoal Bay Villas offers everything you need for the perfect Anguilla vacation.

Carimar Beach Club
4-Star Hotel
For those seeking a laid-back escape, Carimar Beach Club is one of the best beachfront hotels in Anguilla. They provide an authentic Caribbean experience on the mile-long stretch of Meads Bay Beach with its pristine white sand and clear turquoise waters.
With 36 years of history, this unique property and dedicated team provide guests with a personal connection to the island’s best attractions: the people, the beaches, and the restaurants. In Carimar's comfortable and spacious villas in Anguilla, you are always within a minute’s stroll to one of the loveliest mile-long stretches of sand in the Caribbean. And the location in the West End is also home to many of the best restaurants on the island.

Cap Juluca, A Belmond Hotel, Anguilla
5-Star Hotel
Anguilla’s Maundays Bay, with its cartoonish turquoise waters and its splendid white sand beach, is already one of those places that’s almost too beautiful to be real. Add to that a sprawling complex of villas in a fantasy-world Moorish-meets-Santorini architectural style and you’ve got a recipe for an unforgettable experience. And it doesn’t hurt that Cap Juluca has long been one of the Caribbean’s top luxury resorts. But now, in its new incarnation as the Belmond Cap Juluca, it’s somehow more impressive than before.
You can trust Belmond to bring a hotel up to international luxury standard without fundamentally altering the character of the place. The interiors are, as ever, a mix of Mediterranean elegance and Caribbean chill, and the close proximity to the beach means every room, suite, and villa has an ocean view, as well as a private terrace and in some cases a private pool — and the spa is as lavish as ever.
The location is somewhat secluded, so it’s convenient that Cap Juluca should come with a handful of restaurants and bars, to keep your evenings varied — the menus pay tribute to the local culinary culture, and the settings, no surprise, make the most of the ocean views. The island life doesn’t get much better than this.

Antigua
Antigua is a sun-drenched Caribbean gem with 365 beaches, vibrant culture, and a mix of luxury and laid-back charm—ideal for sailing, snorkeling, and soaking up island life.

Where to stay:
The Escape at Nonsuch Bay - Adults Only
4-Star Hotel
The Escape at Nonsuch Bay Resort in Antigua is a quiet, secluded, Adult Only, All-Inclusive getaway, perfect for romance, seclusion and magical moments. The Escape at Nonsuch Bay Resort in Antigua offers affordable, all-inclusive, island style, plunge pool suites of 600 sq. ft. – with a king size double bed; en suite bathroom with a separate shower and double vanity basins. Each modern pool suite features an elegant wet bar coffee center, along with a seating area perfectly aligned with an outdoor soaking tub and relaxing day beds overlooking the plunge pool.

Carlisle Bay
5-Star Hotel
Leave aside any Caribbean stereotypes of simple, dumb fun in the sun: Carlisle Bay's signature blend of posh elegance and to-die-for hipness make this little patch of Antiguan shoreline one of the most stylish spots in the tropics. The interiors, by London designer Mary Fox Linton, bring new life to the white-on-white boutique template, and here, the formula is executed properly — and it's a look that's best suited to a sprawling split-level suite.
This may be the coolest hotel in the Caribbean; it is almost certainly the only one where you can expect to find in-suite espresso machines and a plush air-conditioned screening room, all decked out in leather. The suites are as sleek as any in the region, with the added pleasure of ocean views from each one's private terrace or balcony.
The screening room and the library will see plenty of use, but the outdoors beckons with all the traditional diversions of the Caribbean; enough tennis courts, seemingly, for a Grand Slam, and every water sport one can imagine, or at least the non-motorized ones (trust us, you won't miss the sound of Jet-Skis). The pool is the place for public relaxation, and you'll walk out of the spa wondering if you went to Thailand by mistake.
Carlisle Bay's considerable food and beverage offerings include a poolside Italian restaurant as well as Indigo on the Beach and an Asian cousin called East, and no fewer than three bars for your drinking pleasure. It's not cheap, but it is plush and stylish, and it's almost a law of physics that you can't have all three.

Jumby Bay Island
5-Star Hotel
The promise of exclusivity is central to the mystique of the Caribbean resort, and Jumby Bay Island certainly makes good on this promise. It’s situated on a 300-acre private island off the shore of Antigua, home to three white sand beaches, sheltered by coral reefs and home to endangered varieties of turtles, birds and sheep (of all things), and accessible only by boat, a five-minute ride from the main island of Antigua.
Jumby Bay’s 40 rooms and suites blend traditional colonial touches with an edge of clean-lined modernity; dark mahogany furnishings and four-poster beds in the bedrooms, and new courtyard garden bathrooms, to allow for outdoor showers. Eleven villas are scattered farther afield throughout the island, some remote indeed from the goings-on in the resort’s center — ideal for the privacy-minded.
The beaches are prime leisure attractions, whether for swimmers, sunbathers or amateur Darwins, and hiking and biking trails criss-cross the island. Those in need of more structured recreation will find a pool, fitness center, three tennis courts and a putting green among the all-inclusive offerings, as well as a selection of water sports. Meals are included as well, of course, and you never know who you’ll see living the lifestyles of the rich and famous in the dining room of the estate house or at the Saturday night beach-front barbecue.

The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort
5-Star Hotel
Free champagne and strawberries for everyone, every afternoon: that enduring tradition pretty well sums up the The Ocean Club. The Bahamian resort has been associated with decadence since its first day, when William Randolph Hearst, Zsa Zsa Gabor and too many dukes and earls to name showed up to party at the inaugural ball, and if the atmosphere has loosened up a bit as the tuxes have turned to Polo tees, it certainly hasn’t dampened the distinct rich-at-play spirit of the place. A self-contained world of elegant colonial-style rooms, vast and primly mowed lawns (with the occasional wily coconut palm popping through), and classic white-sand-dune Paradise Island beachfront, the Ocean Club is about as timeless a vision of the Bahamian beach resort as one could ever want.
Which is not at all to say it feels outdated. Proper upkeep, after all, is the secret to cultivating a sense of timelessness, and here, after countless rounds of modernization, the rooms look as good as new. In the more contemporary Crescent Wing, louvered doors open onto private patios or balconies overlooking the ocean, while the airy, sun-drenched interiors feel every bit as fresh as the open-air spaces. For a more traditional look, the Hartford wing retains more of a Colonial aspect, with mahogany and cane furnishings, though all the same modern luxury hotel fittings, like big baths with properly deep tubs, are there as well. Whichever you choose, fresh flowers, nightly turndown service and even such services as luggage-unpacking and shoe shines are the norm.
Of course a full-scale Caribbean resort of this ilk wouldn’t be complete without enough dining, playing and pampering options to satisfy a planeload of aristocrats. To that end there’s a range of dining options, from frozen grapes by the pool to gut-busting gustatory indulgence at the predictably pleasurably Jean-George Vongerichten restaurant; an 18-hole, par-72 golf course that wends along the water; a spa with all the massages, yoga sessions and beauty programs to bust the stubbornest bit of stress; and of course any number of ways to enjoy the water, from diving and snorkeling to sailing and wind surfing. Or you can just lie in the soft white sand on the beach; that hasn’t gone out of style, either.

Barbados
Barbados is a vibrant Caribbean island that blends British heritage, Afro-Caribbean culture, and sun-soaked adventure—perfect for travelers seeking both relaxation and rich experiences.

Where to stay:
Sugar Cane Club Hotel And Spa - Adults Only
3-Star Hotel
Discover a harmonious blend of luxury, tranquility and seclusion at Sugar Cane Club Hotel and Spa, overlooking the exotic West Coast of Barbados. This intimate adult-only boutique hotel offers both all-inclusive and room-only accommodation in an unforgettable ambiance.
From the moment you arrive, you will realize this is no ordinary hotel. Seamlessly combining Mediterranean architecture and lush Barbados tropical beauty, Sugar Cane Club offers you a completely unique Caribbean holiday experience.

The House, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort - Adults Only
4-Star Hotel
Little Arches is something rare in today’s Caribbean — this tiny family-owned boutique feels at once exclusive and down-home, remote and insular yet of a piece with its surroundings. Something of a contradiction, to be sure, but that’s part of the appeal; the feeling is one of intimate seclusion, yet the village of Oistins is within walking distance, and its weekly block party and regular outdoor fish fry offer a taste of authentic Caribbean culture that’s hard to come by at the bigger or more rarefied resorts.
With just twelve rooms, Little Arches feels like little more than an upscale bed and breakfast — even the honeymoon suites are suitably restrained, with whirlpool tubs on private terraces the only extravagance. Interiors are simple and contemporary, but neither off-puttingly modern nor ostentatiously luxurious; the look is somewhat urbane and cosmopolitan, though wicker furniture and tile floors are identifiably Caribbean.
The rooftop pool deck alone is worth the price of admission, and the Café Luna restaurant offers al fresco dining of a caliber far higher than the average Caribbean hotel experience. Golfers can play at Barbados Golf Club, the white sands of Enterprise Beach are just steps away, the hotel’s yacht is available for charter, and there’s no end to the variety of diving excursions available. All in all it’s quite a bit more than you’d expect from a small family operation — you’ll never think of going to one of the all-inclusive megaresorts again.

Sandy Lane Hotel
5-Star Hotel
Idyllically nestled within an ancient mahogany grove on the Platinum Coast of Barbados, overlooking a tranquil 1,000 ft. crescent of white coral sand beach and turquoise waters, Sandy Lane is widely acclaimed as the most iconic luxury resort in the world.
For more than sixty years, discerning travelers have chosen our distinguished address as their Caribbean 'home' to experience decadent relaxation, exclusive privacy, and unrivalled leisure.

Jamaica
Jamaica is one of the Caribbean’s most vibrant destinations, famous for reggae, rum, beaches, and lush mountains. It’s a mix of laid-back island vibes and adventurous experiences, making it perfect whether you want to relax or explore.

Where to stay:
Pimento Lodge
3-Star Hotel
Pimento Lodge is a family-run boutique resort located in Long Bay, Portland, Jamaica, offering a serene and picturesque retreat with stunning ocean views. The property, built by owners Lloyd and Kate, features comfortable and spacious rooms, a 40-foot pool, and lush surroundings with an abundance of flowers and fruit trees. Guests consistently praise the warm, personalized hospitality, with many describing the experience as staying with close friends. The resort provides a peaceful atmosphere ideal for relaxation, while also serving as a convenient base for exploring the natural attractions of eastern Jamaica.

GoldenEye
4-Star Hotel
It’s a whole different side of Jamaica. GoldenEye was Ian Fleming’s estate on the island’s north coast, just down the road from Noël Coward’s place, and the desk in the flagship Fleming Villa is where he sat down to write all fourteen of his James Bond novels. It’s still as casual and low-key as you expect Jamaica to be, but with an undercurrent of colonial-era gentility that most of the island’s other properties can’t hope to match.
The original five villas are still intact on this gorgeous plot of coastal land, a bluff facing an empty cove a few miles to the east of Ocho Rios. That was always enough for a modestly festive sort of atmosphere, but eleven brand-new cottages and six new lagoon-facing suites have upped the sociability quotient considerably. The old GoldenEye was a semi-private escape for a smallish contingent of style-seekers and creative types — the new GoldenEye is as chill as ever, just a touch more accessible.
It’s not just more accessible in terms of the relative scarcity of the accommodations, but in a physical sense as well. The new Ian Fleming International Airport cuts what was once a multi-hour drive down to ten minutes. The result is a uniquely history-steeped boutique hotel experience that only feels remote — in reality it’s a quick hop from the States, and no more far-flung than any of the Caribbean’s other choice destinations.

Rockhouse Hotel
5-Star Hotel
We don’t know who would bother with the big, sterile Jamaican resorts; the smart travelers get themselves westward, to Negril, and to the Rockhouse, a tiny collection of villas stretching along the cliff’s edge at Pristine Cove (a location as aptly named as any you’ll find). ‘Funky’ may be the single most overused word in the boutique hotel dictionary, but in this case, it’s called for—no other word so precisely sums up the Rockhouse’s effortless vintage-shop cool.
And the cliffside location is key to the appeal—this is literally Jamaica’s westernmost point, and it’s possible you’ve never seen a proper sunset until you’ve seen one here. The Ocean View Suites which hang over the edge of Pristine Cover are the most spacious accommodations, and come with direct sunset views, as well as large balconies and outdoor showers. Studios and standards are less spectacular, but all feature four-poster beds with muslin netting, and ceiling fans to keep things cool.
The idea of a horizon pool is hardly a novel one, but this one is striking, sixty feet long, carved into the bluff, and it seems to stretch all the way to Mexico. The poolside bar is where the social scene is, and the restaurant serves Jamaican and European dishes on a terrace over the sea.
There’s a beach relatively nearby at sister property Skylark Negril Beach Resort, but for swimming or snorkeling, there’s a series of ladders descending into the cove, and afterward, the spa offers yoga classes and in-room treatments. For a taste of the urban life, Negril’s outdoor nightclubs and slapdash jerk shacks are a short ride down West End Road; here you'll come in close contact with the locals, whose schools and library, incidentally, have seen upgrades thanks to the Rockhouse Foundation.

Hotel Christopher
5-Star Hotel
A little more seascape, a little less scene — the Christopher might be a touch more down-to-earth than some of St. Barth’s poshest places, but it’s still pretty darn posh. What sets it apart from the competition — aside from its hillside location in Pointe Milou, which literally sets it apart from the island’s busier locales — is a certain unpretentiousness, a welcoming atmosphere and a humble approach that, like good posture or a warm personality, makes an already stunning hotel look just that much better.
Rooms and suites are bright, crisp and contemporary, many with private patios, others with open-air living areas that blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor space. And if simplicity isn’t your thing, the Christopher can do lavish as well — check out the suites, which remain tightly composed even as they begin to spread out: the Ocean Jacuzzi Suite feels like a St. Barths dream home, and the Ocean Panoramic Suite feels positively presidential.
The beaches aren’t far away, but for most of us the infinity pool with its poolside loungers (and drink service) will be quite enough. Between this, a pair of bars, the brand-new SISLEY Spa and the hotel’s two restaurants (one for lunch, one for breakfast and dinner) the Christopher feels remarkably self-contained. But your exile here is wholly voluntary — surfing, windsurfing, deep-sea fishing and all manner of boating and sailing excursions are all well within the realm of possibility.

Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa
5-Star Hotel
The idea that French people are always perfectly put-together may be nothing more than a careless stereotype. Nevertheless, it accurately describes where Saint Barthélemy stands vis-à-vis the rest of the Caribbean. This French island is always a bit more stylish, a bit more upscale than its neighbors. And the first newly-built hotel on St. Barth in twenty years turns out to have been worth the wait, thanks to a pair of Parisians on holiday: designer Sybille de Margerie and Michelin-starred chef Jéremy Czaplicki combine to make Le Barthélemy one of the Caribbean’s hottest tickets.
It takes quite a bit of self-assurance to name your hotel after the destination, but Le Barthélemy has much to be self-assured about. The setting, on a crescent-shaped beach, is exquisite, and as a part of the Nature Reserve of St. Barths it’s a particularly lush corner of the island. It’s in the interiors, though, that you truly begin to get a sense of how impressive this place is. The most basic rooms have views of the gardens or the lake, while an upgrade earns you direct views of those impossible turquoise waters, and the rooms’ impeccable visual style underlines luxe touches like walk-in rainfall showers and Dyptique bath products.
And the cuisine, a weak link on some Caribbean islands, is at Le Barthélemy a particular point of pride. Jéremy Czaplicki’s restaurant by day, Le Barth, keeps it light and simple, with a menu that’s well suited to a day by the pool or at the spa. By night it turns into Amis St. Barth, replacing French-accented island fare with island-flavored French cuisine. It’s almost maddening how easy they make it look.

Best Islands for March through May
Curacao
Curaçao is one of the most colorful and culturally rich islands in the southern Caribbean, famous for its pastel Dutch architecture, turquoise waters, and vibrant local traditions. It’s part of the “ABC Islands” (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao), located just north of Venezuela, and is outside the hurricane belt—making it a reliable year-round destination.

Where to stay:
BijBlauw
3-Star Hotel
Pleasant, invigorating surprises are the root of any good story — and a great way to tweak a predictable story for the better. Such is the case with Curaçao’s BijBlauw, a Willemstad fixture that turns the old “beachy Caribbean resort” trope on its head. There’s still plenty of white-sand waterfront to work with, of course, but the focus centers squarely on the vibe: Pietermaai, the island’s trendy hub and catch-all entertainment district. It’s a best-of-both-worlds scenario, situating resort-style tranquility against a vibrant, walkable urban backdrop.
Behind it all is a gregarious couple, the van Dijks, with the resources and vision to transform a pair of stately, century-old buildings into the smart boutique it is today. Vision in the literal sense, too: unparalleled views of the Caribbean peek through the shutters into just nine rooms and an apartment, each individually decorated in a laid-back, island-contemporary style. The appointments are quite modern — king beds, flatscreens, Nespresso machines, rain showers — and upper-tier rooms come with furnished balconies, ideal for dolphin- or turtle-spotting.
All-day dining is available from the open-kitchen restaurant and lounge, an exercise in locally sourced produce and outstanding seafood preparations. You’d do well to plant yourself on the terrace, weather permitting, periodically refreshing yourself with classic cocktails and nibbles — the sea’s impeccably appropriate for an animated chat and a contemplative sip alike. Get moving whenever you’re ready, no rush. Pietermaai’s rainbow-hued cafés and nightlife joints aren’t going anywhere.

Laluna
4-Star Hotel
We know it’s not very cool to go sniffing around a hotel’s star-spangled guest book, but when the celeb-haunt in question seems at first glance like a modest jumble of beach shacks, a little reassurance might be in order. In part, what makes Laluna so desirable is its discreet location — a lush hillside rising from a secluded white-sand beach shared by just sixteen cottages, near the far southern tip of Grenada. Yet the private, postcard-perfect Caribbean setting is really just a prerequisite for what makes Laluna so appealing: a laid-back tropical fantasy version of escape from the workaday world.
Call it rustic chic, call it barefoot luxury. Whatever you call it, they’ve got it down at Laluna. Look a little closer and that modest jumble of shacks turns out to be one of the most effortlessly sophisticated hotels in the Caribbean, as stylish and luxurious as it is unostentatious. Owned by a former Prada consultant and designed by the interior decorator who did Giorgio Armani’s villa, Laluna takes its design cues partly from the Southeast Asian tropics. The mottled paint and knotty exposed wood beams of the spacious cottage suites’ exteriors give way to airy, open-plan rooms fitted with Balinese antiques, four-poster king beds, walk-in closets and all the usual screens and docks and appliances of a luxury hotel. Each comes with a private veranda and its own plunge pool, plus an open-air shower with views of the sea.
Those plunge pools and showers are made a lot more enjoyable by the amount of privacy on offer. Many of the rooms are freestanding cottages, and the foliage of the jungle into which the rooms are built provides a natural screen. The views, in short, are geared to people who want to gaze at the beach, not at their neighbors.
As private as it all is, there’s also a little socializing on offer at the restaurant, where a Calabrian chef prepares fresh seafood and traditional Italian dishes. It’s in the restaurant that the hoteliers’ Italian heritage comes through most strongly. They’re obsessive, for one thing, about the ingredients they source — veggies from the organic garden on site, prosciutto, parmesan, extra virgin olive oil and other staples imported from top Italian producers.
If you want to do some ingredient-sourcing yourself, you’ve got some choices. You can head out in a fishing boat with the chef to haul in the catch of the day, visit the island’s famous Saturday spice market or, for some cocktails, head to the local rum distillery. Of course you could just as easily spend all day slipping between snoozes in the room, dips in the plunge pool and sea, massages, yoga sessions — in short, doing all sorts of nothing.

Spice Island Beach Resort All Inclusive
5-Star Hotel
Grenada’s two-mile-long Grand Anse Beach is grand indeed. And Spice Island Beach Resort, spanning some eight acres of beachfront real estate, isn’t too shabby either. This family-owned resort was rebuilt after a hurricane a little more than a decade ago, and in the process it was reborn as something rather more high-end — a quietly contemporary, subtly luxurious all-inclusive, all-suite escape.
The 64 suites open onto breezy terraces facing the gardens or, in the best case, the beach; some, set back from the beach, center around private plunge pools instead. All are outfitted in a contemporary style with clear Caribbean-colonial roots, but all studiously avoid floral-print kitsch or seashell cutesiness — it’s a sober, dignified look from top to bottom, and the tactile comforts are more than up to the task.
Oliver’s combines Caribbean fine dining with a lively Grenadian atmosphere, to the sound of steel drums, while the Sea and Surf Terrace & Bar is a touch more casual. Safe to say it’s several steps up from ordinary Caribbean hotel fare, making good on the all-inclusive promise, kids’ club, tennis courts, and all. St. George may not be quite the marquee name that some other Caribbean destinations are — but that’s entirely to Spice Island’s benefit.
